Religious School Philosophy

The purpose of our school is to create a solid understanding and connection to contemporary Jewish life, and tradition through three core concepts: Believing, behaving, and belonging.

Our curriculum provides students a foundation for creating their own beliefs in the context of living a Jewish life. As active participants in our program, students engage in the study of biblical and rabbinic texts, Jewish holidays and spirituality, and acts of tzedakah.

Students learn what it means to behave and participate in the Jewish community.  This behavior includes “doing” Judaism – visiting a home for the elderly, working in a soup kitchen, or reading from the Torah.  As our students study Jewish history and ritual practices, they each develop a sense of identity and communal involvement.

Students engage in the study of Hebrew language while learning the prayer service to establish belonging in our synagogue community, and in Jewish communities around the world. Students will encounter frequent sessions with the clergy and synagogue staff to enhance their connection with our Jewish professionals.
